We paint and fit out hundreds of London homes a year, so we see trends land months before the magazines. Here's what's actually sticking in 2026 — and which fads to let pass by.
Warm minimalism wins
Cold grey is finally out. Clients are choosing limewash textures, buttery off-whites and oiled oak over orange pine and stark white. The look is calm but lived-in: fewer objects, better materials. A single limewash feature wall transforms a boxy new-build living room for the price of two tins of paint.
Statement lighting, everywhere
The fastest upgrade we install: sculptural pendants and picture lights on dimmers. Oversized paper lanterns, brass wall lights and LED picture lighting over art all photograph beautifully and cost far less than new furniture. Pro tip — put every light on a dimmer; it's the cheapest luxury there is.
Natural texture over pattern
Bouclé had its moment; now it's jute, rattan, travertine and unglazed ceramic doing the talking. Texture adds depth without dating the room, which matters in rentals and quick-sale makeovers alike. One jute rug and two ceramic lamps can carry a whole lounge.
Renter-friendly upgrades
With so many Londoners renting, removable everything is booming: peel-and-stick splashbacks, plug-in wall lights, freestanding shelving and tension-rod curtains. Landlords approve, deposits survive, and flats feel personal from week one.
What we'd skip
Ultra-dark green everything is already tipping into dated, and open kitchen shelving looks great until you dust it weekly. Choose one bold move per room and let the rest stay quiet — your future self will thank you at resale.
